Lit Cargo

Memory card problem. Is everything deleted? Please help!?

Yesterday, I put my camera (I've had it for over a year. It's not a new camera or memory card) in my pocket (Kodak EasyShare CD82) to take with me to the store in case I saw anything I wanted a picture of. After we were done shopping (I didn't take any pictures), I reached into my pocket to take out my camera and I noticed that the battery pack popped open and the batteries were out (I was wearing cargo pants and they were in the bottom part). I put them back in but didn't think to turn it on. This morning, I went to take a picture of something and when I first turned it on, the screen lit up, but not with the usual Kodak symbol. The screen lit up black and nothing happened. I couldn't turn it off with the button, so I waited and it eventually shut off. I put it in my brother's (he has the exact same one) and the same thing happened. I put his memory card in mine and it was fine, so I know it's not my camera and something with the card. I tried a couple more times on mine, and after a while, it usually comes up with some text that says "Memory card and Internal memory full Replace card, transfer or delete pictures" Which is not true. I've checked and the internal memory is still there, as well as I know the memory card is not full. When I put the memory card in the computer (I don't have a transfer cable right now), my computer won't read it and asks if I want to format it. I know that means it'll delete everything on the card. When I go to review the pictures on my camera, it says "No pictures or videos to display on memory card". Is there anything I can do to save the pictures on my memory card, or do I have to reformat it? Is there anything that is free?

  1. go to google type photo rescue
  2. Download the program http://www.recuva.com? You must not take anymore pictures on your card. You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader.Put the card in the card reader, open the recuva program, the welcome to the recuva wizard will open, click on next. next box, choose 'pictures', click on next, next box choose 'on my media card' click next. See the words 'enable deep scan' click on start. Wait, for it to do it's magic. You need to use a card reader either one already in your computer (some have one, some don't). Or buy an external USB card reader. They are around 10.00 and can be found at walmart, bestbuy, frys, probably target. The problem with built in card readers is that they will usually only read up to a 2G card. I was not able to recover photos by hooking the camera up to the pc with the usb cord, it just won't work. This is the important part. Choose the pics you want to recover, then choose recover, a box comes up asking where you want to save to. Choose documents/my pictures or wherever you want to save your pictures too. The pictures ONLY save to your pc and not the card. Format your card in the camera after you have retrieved your photos and backed them up to an external source.
